Yankees in trouble
Tonight was supposed to be game four of the ALCS between the Yankees and Tigers but the game was postponed due to the threat of rain. The game will be played tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 pm ET. If you aren’t aware the Tigers are up 3-0 in the series.
The Yankees are having a historically poor offensive showing this postseason. I heard the stat on ESPN radio this morning but they have the fifth or sixth worst batting average for a team that has played more than seven postseason games.
Joe Girardi has gotten desperate with the lineup. Last night he sat Alex Rodriguez and Nick Swisher and he had Rodriguez on the bench again tonight. Curtis Granderson was also set to join A-Rod on the pine in a possible season ending loss.
No one could have predicted how bad this would play out but we saw it all year long that this team only wins games if they hit homeruns. This team has no speed, does not hit and run and they never drop down a bunt. How do you expect to score in October when you can’t do any of those things? Everyone knows the old saying that good pitching beats good hitting and it has proven to be true.
You can understand the Yankees having issues with a Justin Verlander who is one of the top pitchers in the game but they didn’t hit anyone in the Baltimore Series and outside of Jose Valverde this series they’ve done nothing. The worst part is they’ve been getting outstanding starting pitching but they’ve wasted all of it.
We’ll have to see tomorrow if the lineup changes at all from what Girardi had planned tonight.
