Super Bowl set
Super Bowl XLVII is now se after some very good football over the weekend. The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Atlanta Falcons in the first game on Sunday 28-24. The Falcons had a 17-0 lead in the second quarter but for the second straight week they blew a lead. This time they could never recapture the offensive onslaught they started with.
Julio Jones had a huge game for the Falcons as he caught 11 passes for 182 yards and two scores. Roddy White added 100 yards on seven catches. Matt Ryan threw for 396 yards with three touchdowns in the loss.
Colin Kaepernick didn’t hurt the Falcons with his legs like he did Green Bay. He only had 21 rushing yards but he threw for 233 yards with one touchdown to Vernon Davis. Frank Gore ran for 90 yards and two scores as the 49ers never got away from their run game.
The Baltimore Ravens advanced to their second Super Bowl as they shut out the New England Patriots in the second half for a 28-13 win. The Ravens defense played great as they completely shut down the Patriots running game and picked off Tom Brady twice.
Joe Flacco continues to win in the postseason as he threw for three scores and 240 yards. Three Ravens had 55 or more receiving yards in the contest. This was the second time the Ravens have knocked New England out of the playoffs.
The Harbaugh brothers will now meet each other in the biggest game of the NFL season
