Rutgers Tops Cincinnati
Rutgers remained undefeated in the Big East as they beat Cincinnati on the road 10-3 today. The defense was phenomenal as they held the highest scoring team in the Big East to a lone field goal with eleven seconds left in the game. The Bearcats were held to 90 rushing yards on the day.
Savon Huggins was the star on offense today. He made the start in place of Jawan Jamison. Huggins carried the ball 41 times for 179 yards. Jamison was limited to four carries for 37 yards. The Rutgers offense left man points on the field today. Gary Nova threw two interceptions in the red zone and the team had a short field goal blocked.
Nova completed 11 of 19 passes for 186 yards. He threw one touchdown pass to Mark Harrison that covered 71 yards in the second quarter. Harrison finished with four catches for 106 yards on the day. The Scarlet Knights would extend their lead to 10-0 with a field goal in the fourth quarter.
The defense had two interceptions off Cincinnati quarterback Brendon Kay. Logan Ryan picked him off in the red zone and Steve Beauharnais had one. Khaseem Greene added 11 tackles and two sacks in the victory.
The Scarlet Knights remain in sole possession of first place in the Big East with two games to go. They will be in Pittsburgh next weekend and follow that home with a huge home game against Louisville.
