Rutgers knock off Temple
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights improved to 7-0 on the year with a 35-10 victory in Philadelphia over Temple. The Scarlet Knights could do nothing right in the first half as they went into halftime down 10-0. The only notable offensive drive they had stalled when Brandon Coleman dropped a pass on a fourth and one attempt.
The Owls were able to run the ball on Rutgers in the first half as they had over 70 yards in the first quarter alone. They would finish with 119 rushing yards on the day. The lead could have been bigger for the Owls but they turned the ball over on their own fourth down attempt and they also missed a field goal.
Gary Nova and Jawan Jamison could do no wrong in the second half. Nova threw four touchdown passes each to a different receiver. Nova completed 17 of 27 passes for 232 yards and the four scores. Jamison ran for 114 yards on nineteen carries. He had a big day catching the ball as he led all players in receptions with five. Jamison had 81 yards in the air with one touchdown. His touchdown reception put the Knights up 14-10 and they would never give up that lead.
Tim Wright, Mark Harrison and D.C. Jefferson each had touchdown receptions in the game. Defensively, Khaseem Greene returned a fumble twenty yards for a touchdown to cap the scoring in the fourth quarter.
Rutgers returns home next Saturday for a game against Kent State.
