Rutgers faces Army

The fourth ranked Rutgers run defense will be tested today as Army comes in with the triple-option offense. Army leads the nation in rushing offense as they average 375.4 yards a game. They have two players already with more than 900 rushing yards on the season. Senior quarterback Trent Steelman has 911 yards and 12 touchdowns. Junior running back Raymond Maples has 907 yards and two scores. Steelman and Maples both average more than five yards a carry.
Rutgers needs sophomore quarterback Gary Nova to bounce back from his worst college game as he threw six interceptions against Kent State. Nova has thrown for 1816 yards and 17 touchdowns on the season. Junior running back Jawan Jamison can eclipse the 1000 yard mark today if he rushes for 137 yards.
The Scarlet Knights have defeated Army the last eight times the teams have played. Army last defeated Rutgers in 1997 but the last time they defeated Rutgers in New Jersey was 1972. Army enters this game coming off a 41-21 victory over Air Force last weekend.
