Reyes to Toronto
The first huge trade of the baseball season is about to go down with anyone being paid on the Marlins going to the Toronto Blue Jays. The proposed trade will send Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, John Buck and Emilio Bonifacio going to the Blue Jays for Yunel Escobar and some prospects.
If the trade goes through the Marlins would have traded all their big free agent signings from last season. They have already traded Heath Bell earlier. This trade would significantly improve the Blue Jays.
I don’t understand how baseball allows the Marlins to do this every few seasons. Normally they have a fire sale after they win the World Series but these moves come after they finished in last place. This gives hope to me that the Mets won’t finish last in the NL East next season.
