Playoff Baseball
There were two baseball games played so far today with one in progress and one to come later tonight. In the opening game of the day the Cardinals shut out the Nationals by a score of 8-0. The Cardinals jumped all over Edwin Jackson. The Nationals really dropped the ball shutting down Stephen Strasburg in the regular season. The Cardinals now lead the series 2-1.
The Giants evened up their series with the Reds winning in Cincinnati by a score of 8-3. The Reds had to start Mike Leake in place of Johnny Cueto. Leake managed to go 4.1 innings giving up five earned runs. Angel Pagan hit a leadoff homerun to jump start the Giants and Tim Lincecum went 4.1 innings for the win in relief. The deciding fifth game is set for tomorrow afternoon.
The Orioles and Yankees have their series tied at one game each. The Orioles currently lead the Yankees by a 2-1 score in the bottom of the seventh. Manny Machado’s homerun in the fifth inning has put the Orioles ahead. Ryan Flaherty also hit a homerun and Derek Jeter has an RBI triple for the Yankees.
The Detroit Tigers can close out the Athletics tonight in Oakland. The Tigers are currently up two games to one after Oakland won game three. A.J. Griffin opposes Max Scherzer.
