The Jets humiliated themselves last night to a nationwide audience and ruined many Jets fans Thanksgiving. I’ve seen a lot of awful football but last night was something even the best horror writers couldn’t come up with. The Jets managed to look like a high school team getting pummeled by the Patriots by a score of 49-19 at MetLife Stadium.
The Patriots scored three touchdowns in 52 seconds in the second quarter. The 52 seconds is not a typo. Mark Sanchez threw his patented interception deep in the Patriots territory when the game was still scoreless. The Pats took the ball and went down the field and scored when Ellis Lankster forgot he was covering Wes Welker and let him get a touchdown.
The real fun began after that. The Jets went for a fourth-and-one deep in the Patriots territory again. Bilal Powell was running wild on the Patriots but the Jets couldn’t allow this and inserted Shonn Greene who couldn’t get the yard but also decided to fumble the ball. The very next play Tom Brady hit some running back I’ve never heard of for an 83-yard touchdown reception. Bart Scott and Eric Smith are still chasing the guy. How these two are in the league, let alone start, is beyond belief.
The Jets get the ball back down 14-0 and true comedy enters the game. Sanchez forgets the play he runs in the huddle and drops back to hand the ball off. There is no running back there since it wasn’t the play. Sanchez then sprints into the line and runs right into the backside of Brandon Moore and fumbles the ball. The ball is scooped up by the Patriots and the score is now 21-0.
I honestly laughed when I saw the replay. You really can’t make this up. The game could possibly still be within reach here but Joe McKnight fumbles the next kickoff and once again a Patriot runs the other way with the ball making it 28-0 and that’s all.
This team is an absolute joke. I’m glad Woody Johnson asked for the Thanksgiving game and made all Jets fans sick and throw up their meals. My heart breaks for anyone that had to witness that disaster live. How anyone can accept a paycheck from last night is stealing.
Does anyone want tickets to the Jets-Chargers game on December 23rd? I lost my mind a few weeks back and bought them. It was supposed to be the Sunday Night game but that will be flexed if anyone is interested?
