Nets top Knicks
The Nets defeated the Knicks tonight in overtime by a score of 96-89 in a show down for first place in the Atlantic Division. Both teams have 9-4 records after tonight’s action. The Nets defense clamped down on the Knicks the last 1:30 of regulation and overtime. The Knicks only scored five points in the extra session.
Brook Lopez led the Nets in scoring with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Deron Williams had 16 points and 14 assists. Lastly, Jerry Stackhouse was huge off the bench with 14 points including four three-point shots. Gerald Wallace was the only other Net in double figures as he had 16.
Tyson Chandler posted a career high in points with 28 and 10 rebounds. Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 35. No other Knick posted double digits in points. The Knicks were without Jason Kidd who sat out the game with back spasms.
The Nets currently lead the NBA in defense as they are only giving up 91 points a game. They will now travel to Boston to take on the Celtics Wednesday night. The Knicks will also be on the road Wednesday as they will meet the Bucks in Milwaukee.
