Nets fire Johnson
The Brooklyn Nets have fired Avery Johnson 28 games into the season. The announcement was made earlier this afternoon by General Manager Billy King. Johnson was in his third season as Nets coach and finished with a 60-116 record.
P.J. Carlesimo will coach the team for the time being. It was a fast fall for Johnson who was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the month in November. The team started out 11-4 but is now 14-14 on the season.
It doesn’t seem fair that Johnson was fired because the Nets “best” players are not playing up to their basketball card. Deron Williams has been awful all season and Joe Johnson has been right behind him. The team hasn’t been the same since Brook Lopez got injured and the bench has lost their spark.
It’s not known who the team will hire next.
