Nets Blown Out
The Nets proved last night that they are still far away from competing for an NBA Championship after being blown out at home by the Miami Heat. The Heat won all three games against the Nets this season and not one of the games was competitive. The Nets will now play the Chicago Bulls at home on Friday.
This loss was troublesome because you can almost understand getting blown out on the road but not at home in a game you wanted to really stack yourself up against. The Nets are undefeated against sub-.500 teams but are 10-19 against teams with a winning record. This is not the mark of a good team.
The only player to show up last night was Brook Lopez who was named to his first All-Star team earlier in the day. The backcourt of Deron Williams and Joe Johnson combined for only 25 points while only making four shots each. You can’t beat elite teams when your highest paid players don’t show up.
The fact that the team had 19 turnovers didn’t help but that seems to be an every game occurrence. They fought back from an early deficit and actually were tied with the Heat at 49 after the second quarter. The third quarter was once again awful as they were outscored by 22 points. They played no defense in that quarter as they gave up 36 points. The loss also dropped them another game behind the New York Knicks for first place in the Atlantic Division.
