The New York Jets got a much needed yet ugly victory yesterday over the Arizona Cardinals by a 7-6 score. Both offenses were brutal especially at the quarterback position. Mark Sanchez threw three interceptions while Ryan Lindley completed ten passes. Lindley had a rating of 28 while Sanchez was 21.4.
The Cardinals took a 3-0 lead at halftime as Jay Feely kicked a field as the second quarter ended. The Jets didn’t score until Rex Ryan benched Sanchez in favor of Greg McElroy. McElroy threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Cumberland to put the Jets up 7-3. McElroy completed 5-of-7 passes for 29 yards and one score.
Shonn Greene and Bilal Powell had big games rushing. Greene carried the ball 24 times for 104 yards. Powell added 58 yards on 12 carries. Greene quietly has 806 yards on the year and should finish over 1000 yards like he did last season.
The Jets defense played well but it’s hard to gauge since Lindley played so bad. The Cardinals went 0-for-15 on third down which is hard to believe. Larry Fitzgerald only had one catch and that was on the first play of the game.
Ryan won’t announce his starter for the game this weekend against the Jaguars until late in the week.
