McElroy sacked 11 times
The New York Jets were beaten at home yesterday by a 27-17 score by the San Diego Chargers. I had the privilege of watching this debacle in person at a freezing cold MetLife Stadium. Greg McElroy started for the Jets and was sacked 11 times.
The Jets got down early into the game when Michael Spurlock returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown and a quick 7-0 lead. The Jets special teams have been awful all year so why not allow another return at the last home game? The Chargers went up less than two minutes into the game.
Shonn Greene scored two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter to put the Jets up 14-7 but they wouldn’t score again until they kicked a field goal in the fourth quarter.
It was an awful game offensively like we’ve seen all year. I don’t think anyone expected the offensive line to be so bad. It would unfair to judge McElroy based on this game so he should get a look at Buffalo next week.
