Jets lose tough one

The Jets lost in Jet-like fashion yesterday. They dropped a 29-26 decision to the Pats in overtime. It was a roller coaster from start to finish where you thought they would lose by a lot and then you thought they had it won. The loss drops the Jets to 3-4 on the year and 2-1 in the AFC East.

The Pats got the ball first and our defense actually didnít allow a point. We then took our opening drive 76 yards on eleven plays for a touchdown. Shonn Greene ran the ball in for one-yard to give the Jets a 7-0 lead.

The lead lasted a whopping twelve seconds as ex-Scarlet Knight Devin McCourty ran the kickoff back 104 yards for the equalizer. He basically made one man missed and ran the rest of the way untouched. The Pats would go up on a Rob Gronkowski touchdown and a safety to lead 16-7.

Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
Mark Sanchez threw a horrific interception when he had Stephen Hill running up the field untouched. The ball looked like a punt and the Patriots defender caught it on the one-yard line. The Jets would trail 16-10 at the half.

The Jets scored a field goal on the opening drive of the third quarter but it should have been much more. The Jets were converting every short third down but for some reason went shotgun on a third and one from the three yard line. The Sanchez throw to Chaz Schilens went incomplete. This would have been the perfect time for Tim Tebow who is a beast on the goal line and short yardage. I really donít understand why they traded for him if theyíre not going to use him.

The Pats would go up ten points in the fourth quarter on another Gronkowski touchdown. I thought it was over at this point but Sanchez got hot. He started to play like a franchise quarterback and was making some great throws especially to Jeremy Kerley. Kerley had 120 yards on seven catches.

Sanchez got the team within three with a touchdown pass to Dustin Keller which was his first of the season. It was a great throw by Sanchez between defenders. Things got crazy after this point. The Jets defense held and the Jets got the ball back. They were driving for a score when Stephen Hill dropped a sure first down inside the Patriots fifteen-yard line. This was huge as it would have allowed the Jets to eat more clock and potentially score seven points.

The Jets would tie it on another Nick Folk field goal. They made a great play on the kickoff and forced a fumble by McCourty and you thought the game was in the bag at this point. They got conservative though and tried running on the first two downs. Sanchez makes a bonehead mistake on third down by tacking a sack. It was said he was looking for Kerley but he fell down. He still should have thrown the ball away. The Jets went up three points but gave Brady took much time left.

The Pats tied the game at the end of regulation when he took the team right down the field. The Jets just couldnít get any pressure. The Pats got the ball first in overtime and kicked another field goal. The Jets started to move the ball on their last drive but Sanchez made another crucial mistake as he fumbled the ball on a sack. Itís worrisome that he still doesnít know when to take a sack or when to throw a football away.

There is blame to go all over this game. You can start with Mark, the play-calling, why Rex went to a prevent defense, etc. The bottom line is we could have been 4-3 and 3-0 in the division with this win. They never do anything easy and they just break your hearts year after year.

They will play a must win at home next Sunday against the Dolphins before going into the bye week.
