Jets Fire Tannenbaum
The Jets season mercifully ended yesterday with a 28-9 loss in Buffalo to the Bills. Mark Sanchez continued his impressive ability to turn the ball over multiple times. He got his pick six out of the way early in the first quarter and later fumbled in the second half. The team finished the year at 6-10 and will have the ninth pick of the NFL Draft.
The rebuilding of the team has already started with the announcement that General Manager Mike Tannenbaum will not be back next season. Head Coach Rex Ryan will return as the team looks for a new general manager. Offensive Coordinator Tony Sparano is supposed to be let go but nothing has been announced.
This was one of the worst years to watch football that I can remember. The team was horrendous on the field and off the field. They should have never traded for Tim Tebow and Ryan should have pulled Mark Sanchez earlier in the year. The Jets made more headlines off the field than they did on all year.
The turning point to the season in my opinion was the loss to the Dolphins. They played very well in a loss to the Patriots the week before and you started to feel maybe this team could make a run. They played well in a loss to the Houston Texans earlier as well. The fact that they failed to show up for that game made me realize this team was doomed.
It’s shocking that they even won six games with the offensive they rolled out there all season. If they had a mediocre quarterback they would have won eight or nine games. The team seems to be stuck with Sanchez for another season unless they can somehow trade him. That decision will be made by the new general manager.
