Jets face Henne

The New York Jets prepare for a familiar foe today in Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne. Henne has played four games against the Jets as a member of the Miami Dolphins. He owns a career record of 3-1 vs. the Jets while throwing six touchdown passes to only one interception.

Henne defeated the Jets twice in Rex Ryanís rookie year of 2009. In the first meeting in October Henne completed 20-of-26 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-27 Dolphin win. The next month the Dolphins beat the Jets in New York by a score of 30-25 with Henne connecting on 12-of-21 passes for 112 yards and one score.

He last matched up with the Jets in 2010 and split both games. He had a huge game against them in a September 31-23 defeat. He completed 26-of-44 passing attempts for 363 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. In the next game, Henne completed only 5-of-18 passes for 55 yards and one touchdown in the Dolphins 10-6 win. Henne has completed 63-of-109 passes for 771 yards against the Jets.

Jaguars starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert is currently on injured reserve after being hurt against the Houston Texans on the first drive of the game. Henne has a chance to possibly win the starting job for the Jaguars next season as heís played well since taking over. He threw for 354 yards in the overtime loss to the Texans and led the team to only their second win of the season the following week against the Tennessee Titans.

Mark Sanchez and Henne were supposed to the future star quarterbacks in the AFC East while Henne was still in Miami. As of now it looks like neither will be stars but both have a chance today to hold onto starting positions as the season winds down.

Landry vs Landry

The Landry brothers are set to face each for the first time in their professional careers as the New York Jets take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field. LaRon Landry is in his first season as a Jet and has had a very good season as heís dressed in every game this season after only playing in 17 the previous two seasons with the Washington Redskins. Heís made 79 combined tackles with four forced fumbles and two interceptions on the season. He returned an interception for a touchdown in the Jets win earlier this season against the Miami Dolphins.

Dawan Landry is in his second season with the Jaguars after playing the first five years of his career with the Baltimore Ravens. Landry played under Rex Ryan when he was the defensive coordinator in Baltimore. He has 82 combined tackles and one interception for the Jaguars this season.

The brothers would have played each other back in 2009 when the Ravens and Redskins met in week 14 of the regular season but Dawan Landry missed the game due to injury. The Ravens defeated the Redskins that day by a score of 24-10. LaRon Landry had two tackles and an interception in the loss. Both teams also played each other in the preseason in 2007 and 2009.

They both play the safety position since coming into the NFL. Dawan was drafted in the fifth round by the Ravens in the 2006 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech. LaRon was the Redskinís first pick in the 2007 draft when he was the sixth overall pick out of LSU.

The two are very close and could potentially meet on the field at the same time. LaRon plays special teams so look for the potential matchup between the two. Dawan wears the number 26 while LaRon wears jersey number 30.

Tim Tebow a Jet??
Well they did it. The Jets acquired Tim Tebow from the Broncos for a 4th and 6th round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Jets also received a 7th round pick in return. Since the news came down Iíve been trying to find the positives but itís been hard to do.

The Jets already have a circus like atmosphere hanging around the team from last season and bringing in Tebowmania is going to add to it. From a football standpoint, the move makes no sense. We basically have a fourth quarterback on the roster when we really need another safety, offensive line help and pass rushers. Youíre putting more pressure on Mark Sanchez to work out because once he has a bad game fans are going to be calling for Tebow to play. Everyone knows the media in New York blows everything out of proportion and not we have the biggest story in the NFL coming over.

I hate that the Jets always seem to trade away their draft picks. This team has depth issues everywhere but yet we seem to trade draft picks like they are meaningless. How many plays is Tebow even going to be involved in? Is he going to run the wildcat five or six times a game? I would have traded him for a fifth round pick or higher but to give up two doesnít make any sense for a guy who is barely going to play.

If you thought Santonio Holmes was miserable last season just wait until Tebow underthrows him by 10 yards. This is just a disaster waiting to happen. It really smells like the Jets did it to get attention in a city where the other team just won the Super Bowl. My only hope is they somehow turn around and trade him to Jacksonville or some other team that really needs a quarterback.

I hope Iím proven wrong but I donít see any good out of this trade.

Manning Saga Ends

Peyton Manning's new football home.
Peyton Manning has finally chosen his future home and he will become a Denver Bronco. We had heard for quite some time that he preferred the AFC and that appears to be true. There were reports that the 49ers jumped into the Manning race and I thought that would have been a perfect fit. Manning stays in the horse family going from the Colts to the Broncos.

Outside of the 49ers, this is probably the best fit for him. The division isnít tough and the Broncos have a very good defense. They always have a good running game and they have some decent receivers
